王华祥是一位艺术教育家,也是素描、版画界最具影响力的人物之一。早年,王华祥以《贵州人》为题的无主版套色木刻等创作,在一定程度上推动了彩色木刻技法的革命,他的黑白木刻教学“三十二种刻法”,对于重塑中央美术学院木刻教学在全国高校中的龙头地位起到了重要作用。现在,他的作品在某种程度上已经成为中国当代艺术20年的一个缩影。本次讲座,王华祥先生将就木刻与前卫的关系这一主题来与我们分享他的艺术成就和研究成果。
Wang Huaxiang is a well-known educator in fine arts, known also for his line drawing and one of the most influential artists in printmaking. In the early days, Wang’s techniques used in Guizhou Ren helped revolutionize techniques of color printmaking, and the China Central Academy of Fine Arts’ celebrated academic reputation in the studies of large-scale printmaking is strongly attributed to Wang’s “Thirtytwo Ways of Printmaking” in Black-and-White wood printing. Recently, Wang’s art works, by and large, have become an epitome of China’s modern art over the past twenty-years. In his talk, Wang will concentrate on the subject of the relationship between wood printing and the avant-garde, sharing his achievement and success on printmaking.
